Students will develop expertise in analytical methods that are increasingly relied upon by government agencies, non-profit organizations and the private sector. Through the use of cutting-edge tools and skills, students will be able to address contemporary political, policy and governance challenges.

The Johns Hopkins MS in Government Analytics curriculum provides students with a broad set of foundational skills in statistical analysis and offers the opportunity to develop expertise in a specific analytical area. The program offers concentrations in statistical analysis, geospatial analysis, political behavior and policy analysis and public management. No prior coursework in quantitative methods is necessary.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

  • Upload the following required materials to the Online Application: 500-word Statement of Purpose, Resume,  a 5-7 page writing sample that is research-focused
  • Submit the application and pay the $75 fee when you have uploaded all necessary materials (listed above).
  • Upload unofficial copies of transcripts to the application. 
  • Mail in official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate coursework completed within the US only.
  • If you have international coursework, send in the course-by-course credential evaluation.
