Applied Linguistics, M.A.

  • Application Deadline
  • 24 months
University rank #347 (QS) ,
The Master in Applied Linguistics at the University of Münster puts an emphasis on the aspect of communication. In particular, skills that enable students to describe and analyse linguistic phenomena in both written and oral interaction will be taught.

The skills acquired in this Master in Applied Linguistics at the University of Münster promote an understanding for language that will allow students to work in jobs that demand the analytical competence needed in order to understand how and why language is used in certain situations. Essential for the understanding of communication are the questions of communicative behaviour and how objectives are negotiated in interactive situations; what conventional patterns are being followed; what social functions are related to certain statements and what historical, social and anthropological conditions they are dependent on (affiliation to a group and culture, grade of formality, situation of statement, etc.).
