About

Program objectives

Upon completion of the University of Southern Queensland Master of Business and Innovation (General), students will be able to:

  • demonstrate advanced and integrated understanding of a complex body of knowledge in business and emerging cross-disciplinary specialisations

  • independently undertake critical analysis, reflect on and synthesise complex information, problems, concepts and theories in business and emerging cross-disciplines

  • engage in independent research using a relevant theoretical framework as a practitioner or learner

  • demonstrate expert judgement, autonomy and responsibility in the application of established theories to a body of knowledge or practice

  • communicate knowledge, skills and ideas to specialist and non-specialist audiences.

Research project

The third component of your studies will be a research project which will expand your knowledge in innovative business and entrepreneurship. The Research specialisation has a practical emphasis on innovative and creative approaches to current issues in the business environment. You can use your own experiences as a backdrop to your studies and develop a research project based on your current workplace.

  • The General specialisation comprises any 4 courses from the Master of Business Administration, Master of Project Management and Master of Business and Innovation as well as other postgraduate courses from across the university subject to the approval of the Faculty of Business, Education, Law and Arts and meeting any prerequisite requirements.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 4

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 4 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

To be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Completion of an Australian university Bachelor degree in the area of business, or equivalent.

For candidates who have a Bachelor degree or equivalent (AQF level 7) in a non-related discipline from a recognised institution, USQ’s Graduate Certificate of Business provides an articulation pathway into the Master of Business and Innovation. Upon completion and achievement of a minimum GPA of 4.0, they will be eligible for entry into the Master of Business and Innovation.
