The Master of Science (Civil Engineering) programme, or M.Sc.(CE), is hosted by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. 

Overview

The programme accepts both full time and part time students. To qualify for the M.Sc. (CE) degree with or without Specialization, a candidate must successfully complete a programme of study consisting of at least 40 Modular Credits (MCs). At least 30 MCs must be taken from level 5000 and 6000 modules. In addition, a student must obtain a minimum CAP of 3.00 (equivalent to an average grade of B-) for the best modules equivalent to 40 MCs (inclusive of compulsory modules, where required). A student may choose to graduate with the following degrees:

  • M.Sc. (Civil Engineering)
  • M.Sc. (Civil Engineering) with Specialization in Structural Engineering
  • M.Sc. (Civil Engineering) with Specialization in Geotechnical Engineering
  • M.Sc. (Civil Engineering) with Specialization in Infrastructure Project Management

GRE admission requirements GRE® The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. It contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.
GMAT admission requirements GMAT The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a test intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA. GMAT contains 4 sections - Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal. The score has a range from 200 - 800.

The score refers to the total score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading), each subject has a range of 0 - 30.
PTE Academic admission requirements PTE Academic PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. The score refers to a total score which ranges between 10 and 90.

  • You will need to complete the relevant application forms available.
  • Please remember to attach all the required supporting documents, including your application fee of S$20 (for online application) / S$40 (for paper-based application) for each application you apply.
  • You must submit your application early before the closing date for receipt of applications.
Applications are open to candidates with a relevant bachelor's degree with at least a 2nd Class Honours or its equivalent. Candidates should preferably have had a period of relevant work experience after obtaining their first degree. Candidates with other qualifications and achievements deemed to be suitably prepared for the programme of study may also be considered. Selection of students is on a competitive basis.

Funding

The National University of Singapore [NUS] offers scholarships each year to nationals of ASEAN* member countries to take full-time coursework graduate degrees at NUS. This scholarship is for new, incoming students. Singapore citizens and permanent residents are ineligible. These awards, known as the NUS Graduate Scholarship for ASEAN nationals [NUS GSA], are financed by the People of Singapore and the University. The scholar has no obligation or bond to NUS or Singapore but is expected to complete the graduate degree and return to the home country to assist in the progress and development of the home country.
