All teaching is carried out by the School of Mathematical Sciences but we encourage students to collaborate with colleagues in the School of Life Sciences, the School of Medicine and Centre for Plant Integrative Biology. You don’t need to have any background in biology, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn about it. The required biology will be introduced throughout the course.

The emphasis of the course is on how we can use mathematics in a biological or medical application. We will teach you the techniques needed such as advanced nonlinear and stochastic dynamics, model building, interpreting model output in light of biological data and practical approaches to simulating biological and medical processes.
