About

The nondegree Endorsement Program for Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant Certification from Rutgers University prepares teachers to serve as Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultants (LDT-Cs) in public school systems.

Overview

We aspire to bring distinction to Rutgers by conducting research and improving practice in relation to three pressing issues in education: (i) meeting the needs of diverse learners, (ii) using emerging digital pedagogical tools effectively, and (iii) addressing the equity and adequacy of financial, human, and social resources for PK-12 and higher education.

The Endorsement Program for Learning Disabilities Teacher - Consultant Certification program from Rutgers University works as an assessment specialist and a member of the public personnel services team. Applicants are required to have an earned master’s degree, a New Jersey standard instructional certificate, and three years of full-time classroom teaching experience.

The program includes instruction in the assessment of academic achievement of students referred for learning disabilities evaluation. Participants will also be prepared to interpret patterns found in testing, to devise informal measures to pinpoint cognitive difficulties, and to design interventions to help students compensate for academic and behavioral deficiencies.
