The Master’s Programme in Creative Sustainability provides an international and multidisciplinary learning platform in the fields of architecture, built environment, business and design. It allows students to study and develop solutions to global sustainability concerns such as climate change, resource scarcity, global poverty as well as social and economic inequality.
Global and local challenges call for multidisciplinary approaches and the inter-linkage of environmental, economic, socio-cultural aspects in education. Creative Sustainability brings together students who are devoted to developing systemic solutions, working in multidisciplinary teams and challenging themselves with practical learning tasks. The studies provide opportunities to collaborate with research projects, companies, organisations and students from other disciplines.
Creative Sustainability is a joint master’s degree programme organised by the School of Arts, Design and Architecture, the School of Business and the School of Engineering. Students who enter the programme through the School of Engineering will graduate with degrees of Master of Science in Technology.
After entering Creative Sustainability through the School of Engineering, you will build the knowledge and skills required for enhancing your holistic understanding of different fields of real estate and water management, relevant stakeholders and the connections between them. You will be provided with tools of critical thinking, analysis and decision-making to take up sustainability-related challenges in the various projects and tasks of a versatile real estate industry.

The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test.
Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.
Minimum required score:
The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading). Minimum required score:
The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).
The selection process is paper-based and competitive, and it may be complemented with interviews. Applications that pass the eligibility check of Aalto University Admissions Services proceed to the School's programme specific academic evaluation.

Tuition in bachelor's and master's programmes taught in English are subjected to annual fees for non-EU/EEA citizens.
The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
Prospective students subject to tuition fees are eligible to apply for Aalto University Scholarship.
