Robinson’s Master of Taxation is one of the largest in the nation and the only MTx degree in Georgia. The Master of Taxation program empowers graduates with tax knowledge that distinguishes them throughout their careers.

The Master of Taxation program empowers graduates with tax knowledge that distinguishes them throughout their careers.

The program starts in the fall or spring semester (no summer admissions.) Students may select either the one-year or two-year format. The Master of Taxation degree requires 30 semester hours.

Our full-time faculty members are well-known for their research, while our adjunct professors are respected and recognized in the field — coalescing to offer a strong academic experience.

Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and have taken Principles of Accounting 1 and 2 and an undergraduate-level tax course. Professional work experience is not required.

Georgia State University College of Law*

Candidates who are currently enrolled in the College of Law and have not graduated may use up to four (4) courses, a total of twelve (12) semester hours, taken in their Juris Doctor Program, and apply them to the MTx degree. Courses must be in tax and approved by the program director, Dr. Tad Ransopher.

  • No GMAT required, but the normal prerequisites for the program remain.
  • Principles of Accounting is all that is required. No Intermediate Accounting is required.**
Current Members of the Bar

Candidates who are established in careers as attorneys may be admitted into the School of Accountancy MTx program by meeting the following requirements:

  • Be a member in good standing of the bar.
  • Principles of Accounting is all that is required. No Intermediate Accounting is required. No GMAT is required.**

Academic Requirements

Admission to Robinson’s Specialized Master’s programs is highly competitive. We seek motivated candidates with a demonstrated track record of academic achievement. Applicants must hold a four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. Acceptance is by rolling admission.
