Overview
The Applied Economics programme at City University of Hong Kong can also serve as a foundation for further academic work at the graduate level.
In recent years, techniques for economic analysis, modeling and forecasting have advanced substantially. Economic analysis is now widely applied in areas such as international trade, telecommunication markets, competition law, banking and financial systems, regulation, and business strategies. The programme is designed to provide a rigorous training in economic analysis as well as empirical and quantitative methods for fresh university graduates and young professionals.
The objectives of the programme are:
- to equip students with advanced knowledge in modern economics for understanding, analyzing, and solving real-world problems;
- to develop students' conceptual and analytical capabilities in analyzing economic policies and making competent business decisions; and
- to impart in-depth knowledge and skills in theories and empirical methods that facilitate applied research in economics.
