The Business Administration Tax program at the University of Cincinnati is a degree program which, when added to a business baccalaureate degree in Accounting or its equivalent, satisfies the education requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination in the State of Ohio and 45 other states, Puerto Rico and Guam with similar education requirements. 

Overview

The Business Administration Tax program at the University of Cincinnati is designed for the following types of students:

  • Students with a baccalaureate degree in accounting (30-semester graduate credits)
  • Students with non-accounting business degrees (54-semester graduate credits)
  • Students with non-business degrees (55-semester graduate credits).

The MSBA in Taxation Program is offered as a part-time program where students take two courses per term in an online delivery modality.

Successful tax accountants possess excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze information. Other attributes include:

Successful graduates entering the accounting field can enhance their marketability in three ways:

Graduates of the UC Lindner College of Business accounting program can find career opportunities in public and corporate accounting. Employers include both national and international public accounting firms (Big 4), regional and local public accounting firms, financial services firms, manufacturing firms and retailers and others. In addition, it is not uncommon for accountants to be self-employed providing tax services as a consultant or through their own firm. Examples of jobs include:

GRE admission requirements GRE® The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. It contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.
