
Overview
The programme’s main focus is learning to design, execute, test and improve industrial processes in a chemically and technologically responsible way. In addition to fundamental (bio)chemical coursework, the curriculum includes coursework in socio-economics, chemical process technology, surface chemistry, environmental technology etc.
The Chemical Engineering Technology programme from KU Leuven covers a wide variety of disciplines. You will learn to design, execute, test and improve industrial processes in a chemically and technologically responsible way. In addition, you will learn to research, develop and apply new materials such as polymers, composites, metals and ceramics. The curriculum includes courses in the fields of socio-economics (company management, economics) as well as chemical technology (engineering, separation techniques, chemical process technology, industrial process technology, surface chemistry, environmental technology etc.).

The broad and fascinating field of the chemical industry includes employment opportunities in petrochemical, synthetic, and pharmaceutical areas. Upon completion of this master’s programme, you will be fully trained and highly skilled, ready to enter the professional workplace.
Besides employment by the government, private and non-profit organisations and institutions, you may also set up an applied research project and design activities on a self-employed basis.

General requirements
- Academic background: The candidate needs to have a honours bachelor’s degree (B.Sc., B.Tech., B.Eng., etc.) or a master's degree in a related/cognate subject area, a solid background in science and mathematics and a clear affinity with the major.
- GRE test results: in order to be considered for admission, applicants are required to submit their GRE score (at the moment, there is no minimum requirement for GRE scores). Students who obtained a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in one of the EEA countries, the UK, or Switzerland are exempted from providing GRE scores. However, submitting GRE scores might still be considered as an asset when applying.
- English language proficiency: All applicants who have not obtained a previous diploma in a programme taught in English in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America must submit a certificate proving their proficiency in English.
