The Physical Geography programme at Swansea University will be shaped by your participation in research activities such as seminars, workshops, laboratory activity and field work, as well as your involvement in one of our established research groups.
You will undertake an individual physical geography research project over two years (MPhil) or three years (PhD), supported by our widely respected academic staff.
Swansea is a research-led University and our department makes a significant contribution.
We have staff working on post-disaster landscapes (Professor Marcus Doel), new understandings of nationalism (Dr Angharad Closs Stephens), and post-conflict cultural revival (Dr Amanda Rogers). Their expertise will support your work.
During the Physical Geography programme at Swansea University you will have access to:

- a remote sensing computer laboratory with 10 high-performance Linux workstations
- Specialist laboratory suites for stable isotope ratio analysis; tree ring analysis; extraction and identification of organic compounds; pollen extraction and analysis; rainfall simulation; tephra analysis; soil and sediment characterisation
