Overview

The course features a combination of core and option modules which allow you to focus on areas of interest that relate to your professional needs. During the Management, Finance and Accounting programme offered at the University of Leicester ,you will develop an understanding of the main theories, models, frameworks, and techniques of management. Specifically, you will be provided with a stimulating and intellectually challenging learning experience, along with rigorous teaching in the concepts of financial management and accounting and general management tools and techniques.

As well as specific knowledge of financial management and accounting, this degree will develop your ability to analyse and evaluate management problems and make sound strategic decisions. It will also develop your practical transferable skills including the ability to conduct independent research, both online and offline; time management, verbal and written communication, presenting and planning.

The course will prepare you for management level accounting and finance careers in public or private sector organisations, or an academic career in this area.

At the start of the course you will take a week non-credit bearing module which covers two professional certificates.  Firstly you will cover the content for the Investment Foundations Certificate offered by the CFA. It is recognised by employers in the finance industry and can be completely externally to the University for a small fee. You will be also be introduced to the Bloomberg Terminals and given the opportunity to complete a free online examination, 'Bloomberg Essentials'. Completing these professional certificates can really help you stand out to employers.
