This Master in International Biometrics (Optics, Vision, Image and Multimedia) is a two-years program corresponding to the fifth year of university studies. The content of this program at Université Paris-Est Créteil UPEC deals with main techniques used to extract and process digitally, human body characteristics, including physical and behavioural features. 


Students will deal with all types of Biometrics, namely:

  • Medical and healthcare oriented Biometrics: measurement, feature extraction from bio-signals and biomedical images.
  • Security Biometrics: Fingerprint, face recognition, Iris recognition, for both identification and verification, etc.
  • General purpose Biometrics: gesture analysis, motion analysis, image and video processing, behavioural feature extraction, etc.
  • Mobile Biometrics: including signal and image applications on IOS and Android Smart devices.

Technical skills 
  • Signal processing, Image processing and Computer Vision methods.
  • Application development, including on Smart devices (e.g. Android and IOS) and connected devices.

The International Master Program of International Biometrics (Optics, Vision, Image and Multimedia) can be achieved either On-Campus at Université Paris-Est Créteil UPEC or Online. Once graduated, students can join companies as project manager, technical consultant, software system analyst, biometric systems engineer, software application developer, computer vision system designer, etc. You can also apply for for PhD positions at any university in France, in Europe or even in the world.

2nd Semester (Internship)

You have to achieve "any where in the world", 5-6 months internship in a company or a research laboratory. Subjects: biometrics, computer vision, IT systems, Pattern recognition, image processing, video processing, computer graphics, measurement, identification systems, authentication, advanced programming, smart healthcare systems, artificial intelligence, biomedical data processing and analysis.


This program is recommended for students holding at least a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Information technology (or similar).

At least a Bachelor degree "3 years of university studies" in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent. For french education system a "Licence 3" is required (e.g. SPI, Informatique,...).

Master 2

At least a Bachelor degree "4 years of university studies" in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent. For french education system a "Master 1" is required (e.g. SPI, Informatics,...), or equivalent. Basis of signal/image processing are required.
