We study how cultural values and the nature of social relations shape economic practices and how emotions shape politics and social life in general; we work with issues of change in rural life conditions and rural identity; we explore civil-society related topics and transformations of state-citizen relations; and we study the emergence and transformations of subcultures, countercultures and social movements.

To apply for the Master's Program in Cultural Sociology, you need a relevant bachelor's degree. You can apply if you hold one of the following degrees:
- BSc in Sociology and Cultural Analysis from SDU - gives you a legal claim for admission*
- BSc in Market and Management Anthropology from SDU - gives you a legal claim for admission*
- BSc European Studies from SDU - gives you a legal claim for admission*
- BSc in Sociology from Danish or foreign universities
- BSc Anthropology from Danish or foreign universities
- BSc in Social Science (Samfundsfag) from Danish or foreign universities
- BSc in Social Science (Socialvidenskab) from Roskilde University
- BSc in Political Science from Danish or foreign universities
- BSc Ethnology (Europæisk etnologi) from University of Copenhagen
- BSc in Global Studies (Globale studier) from Aarhus Universitet
- BA in Work-Life Studies from Roskilde Universitet
- BA in Techno anthropology (Teknoantropologi) from Aalborg University
- Another Bachelor’s or professional Bachelor’s degree within social sciences, which includes a minimum of 120 ECTS in sociology or other social sciences, including a minimum of 10 ECTS in Social Science Methods and/or Statistics. There must be evidence that these courses, independent of subject matter, are taught using social science methods. Once you have applied, the study board will determine whether your degree fulfils the entry requirements.
