In this 2nd cycle of studies, knowledge is deepened and integrated, aiming at its implementation in professional contexts, where unexpected problems and complex questions arise, demanding a reasoned reflection about possible solutions, its implications and ethical responsibilities.

Pre-school Education And Primary School Teaching from University of Madeira cycle of studies’ objective is not only to prepare experts in the teaching techniques and in learning, but also to create autonomous, critical and reflective professionals, and that are aware of the continuous need to learn, and that enjoy learning. Above all, these professionals should be people that society and children’s parents trust.

Career Opportunities

Graduates will be professionally qualified to teach in kindergarten and in the 1st cycle of Basic Education. In the terms of the decree-law nr. 43/2007, of the 22nd of February, the approval of the 2nd cycle of studies is mandatory for the professional practice of teaching.

Secondary education diploma or equivalent, or, if the academic qualification does not correspond to the Portuguese secondary education, a document proving that it allows, in the country where it was obtained, access to higher education
Course syllabuses and other documents that prove the subjects taught and obtained by the candidates (not applicable when presenting proof of national exams in your country)
Proof of completion of national exams in your country (ENEM for candidates from Brazil)
Documentary evidence attesting proficiency in the language the study cycle is taught
Proof that the candidate holds the Prerequisites (where applicable)
