Overview

The MSc in Communications Engineering programme at Swansea University provides a deep understanding of digital communications, photonics, telecommunication networks and wireless information technologies. 

You will develop a comprehensive communications knowledge-base, from the unique identity and credentials of specific technologies, to their history, infrastructure and architecture.

Over the MSc course you will develop an advanced understanding of specialist communications engineering. This spans from the essential element of modern optical communication systems, evaluating bandwidth-rich contemporary approaches, to network performance and network security. 

You will be introduced to technologies underlying the compressions and transmission of digital video, understand channel models and impairments that typically limit wireless system performance, and learn to design optimum digital communication receivers.
