Overview

Our modern historians at Swansea University have a great mix of expertise encompassing Welsh, British, European and global history. Their specialisms include economic and industrial history, questions of identity and nationality, imperialism, medicine, politics, sexuality, and sport.

You will study a set number of optional 20-credit modules, before undertaking a 60-credit dissertation project of your choosing in the second part of the course.

Varied modules include historical methods and approaches, communicating history, Swansea and the sea, Wales since 1945 and fascism and culture. You may also have the chance of a heritage work placement, worth 20 credits.

At Swansea you will find an impressive array of modern history research resources for postgraduate study. As well as the general holdings in the University library, the National Library of Wales at Aberystwyth is within travelling distance and we work closely with the National Galleries and Museums of Wales.
