
Overview
Speech pathologists diagnose, treat and provide services to people with communication impairments, including speech, language, voice, fluency disorders, or clients with eating and drinking difficulties across the lifespan.
You will gain a detailed understanding of communication development, developmental and acquired communication and swallowing disorders, clinical practice and research. Your studies will be supported by fieldwork opportunities.
The Master of Speech Pathology course from Curtin University includes the introduction of theoretical, evidence-based material and its link to clinical practice, and research skills to become an evidence-based clinician.

- An honours degree or a bachelor degree with a course weighted average of 65 per cent.
- Applications with CWA <65 will be considered should the applicant demonstrate equivalent prior learning, including appropriate professional experience, and document this clearly in the CV and personal statement that are submitted at the time of application.
- Evidence of studies in human biology at university level is essential. Without this background, you will have to complete additional units in this area before commencing the course.
- You will be required to obtain First Aid certification in additional to a number of police clearances and immunisations upon entering this course.
- Applicants will also submit a personal statement that reflects relevant work experience and knowledge of the profession.
- You will be required to submit supplementary information with your application. Please refer to the application requirements below.
