What you’ll learn

The Teaching - Middle School Math program at University of Colorado Denver will deepen your understanding of mathematics while learning how to engage students in meaningful learning experiences. Designed for students who hold a bachelor’s degree in a variety of fields, this graduate program supports you in pursuing your dream to be a teacher. Learning from dedicated teachers and award-winning faculty in a residency program perfected and proven through almost 30 years of ongoing work with partner schools make our program – and our graduates – stand out. Upon successful completion of all components of this program, you will be ready to be a licensed middle school math teacher.

In this concentration you will:

Learn to plan assessment-informed math instruction for educational excellence and equity for all middle school children from diverse racial, ethnic, socio-economic and ability backgrounds.
Develop deep understanding of the diverse ways children learn math and develop within their families and communities and in schools; and gain skills to bring a relevant and engaging curriculum to your standards-based teaching.
Gain the skills for effective middle school classroom organization and management.
