The 2nd-cycle study programme in Psychology leads to "magisterij" (master's degree). It is implemented by the Faculty of Arts and its main educational and professional goal is to educate students in a wide range of understandings, knowledge, and skills in the areas of psychology and to prepare candidates for a full and independent professional work in the field of psychology.

About

The main general competences achieved by graduates are:

  • the ability of knowledge accumulation and its use;
  • the ability to critically analyse scientific information;
  • the ability to observe, analyse, synthesize, and critically evaluate;
  • the ability to work individually and in teams;
  • the ability to solve professional work problems, based on the use of scientific methods;
  • usage of modern information technology in work organization and problem solving;
  • preparation for life-long professional learning;
  • scientific and professional oral and written skills;
  • project management and supervision; and
  • personal integrity and ability to work in accordance with professional ethics.
The main specific competences achieved by the Master graduates are:
  • expertise, analysis and evaluation of basic and applied psychological knowledge and knowledge of other related scientific disciplines;
  • ability to analyse complex psychological problems on professional autonomous way;
  • ability to use research methods, approaches and techniques in the field of psychology with critical evaluation;
  • ability to plan, organize and conduct scientific qualitative and quantitative psychological research;
  • understandings of developmental, individual, social and cultural characteristics in psychological work;
  • ability for psychological counselling of individuals, groups and institutions in different social contexts; 
  • ability to plan, conduct and evaluate psychological interventions in different target groups (children, adolescents, adults, elderly); and
  • insight in current and future trends in psychology.

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.

Funding

Full-time students from Slovenia and other EU countries, and full-time students from non-EU countries who are granted international protection, applicants for international protection and persons from countries with which Slovenia has concluded bilateral agreement (i.e. Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, B&H, and Serbia) pay NO TUITION FEE (except the part for studying in English, if applicable) if they have not already obtained an education corresponding to master's degree.
