Overview

Offered through Colorado Christian University's College of Adult and Graduate Studies, the program is designed to address the need for licensed teachers to be knowledgeable in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and English as a Second Language (ESL).

Most schools refer to their programs as "ESL" or "ELL." CCU's online master's Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education program will prepare you for such ESL and ELL programs and for working with culturally and linguistically diverse students. This is especially important as the population of multilingual learners continues to grow in the U.S., and also as more international opportunities for teaching become available for experienced educators.

General requirements

Complete the graduate admission application online (including essays, transcripts, and fees).
Submit your resume or Curriculum Vitae through the online application process.
Submit your program-specific essay through the online application process.
Submit an official transcript that reflects a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
A minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants with an undergraduate grade point average between 2.0 and 2.49 will be admitted on a conditional admit (CAD) basis for the first semester. CAD students must maintain a 3.0 GPA or better in their first nine (9) credits to remain in the program.
Obtain one professional recommendation from an individual who is not a family member.
Complete an admission interview with personnel from the M.Ed. in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education program.
Complete a background check.
