Health Economics

The resources available are inadequate which leaves us no other choice but to decide every time what is the best way to spend our money and use our time. Scarcity and choice are the two main pillars of economics. This module analyzes the basic principles of microeconomics and its applications on health. It also addresses issues such as profitability and the law and how they are applied to health. Among the issues discussed are: a) markets and the factors of market failures in health, b) the mediation ratio and the possibility for health services providers to stimulate demand, c) the concept of uncertainty and the operation of health services insurance markets, d ) the nature of demand for health services and the reasons why there should be concern for other peoples health, e) methods for measuring and evaluating the benefits derived from health services and issues regarding the rationalization of health services.

Healthcare Systems Policy & Planning

This module is an introduction to the structural components of health systems and describes the policy tendencies of various health systems worldwide. The student is introduced to basic contexts of health systems analysis and acquires in-depth knowledge of the content and context of operation of an organized system of health services. More specifically, the following topics are dealt with: a) health systems, their aims and objectives, b) the structural components of a model health system, such as financing, central management and organizational structures, resources' allocation, the systems of payment of health services providers and the provision of health services, c) comparative presentation of health systems in different countries, d) a strategic planning of a health services organization, e) health services marketing, f) financial management of health services units.

Healthcare Organisations Management

The healthcare providers are among the most complex organizations. Their operation calls for the coexistence and cooperation of various types of professionals such as doctors, administrators, nurses, politicians in order to communicate and provide quality services to patients and their families. This module provides theoretical and practical knowledge and guidance to understand how an organization providing health services is organized and managed as well as the main challenges it has to address. Some of the issues addressed are: a) the operation of health services and health services demand management, b) patient handling services, c) peripatetic care, d) forms of medical organization, e) financial management, f) reimbursement of health services, g) quality management and redesign of health services and h) administration of drugs and stocks.

Human Resources Management

The Psychology of the individual as employee. Motivation to work with an emphasis placed on educational units. Individual differences in acquisition of new knowledge. Interview. Working environment (facilities and working environment). Social psychology at work. Leadership and participation. Communication and changes management. Factors affecting the performance of employees (Greek mentality and culture). Personnel management. Analysis of job positions. Selection and evaluation of staff. Promotion procedures. Managing resignations and dismissals. Adult training methodology and principles. Managing health and safety conditions.

Corporate Policy & Strategy

In this module the corporation is studied from an international perspective and the value of alternative corporate strategies is analyzed. The policies of various companies (corporate policies) are mainly determined by their owners. These policies demonstrate ways of thinking and acting, biotheories, personalities, philosophies, temperaments, etc. The group engaged in the strategic management of a company (corporate strategy) has to be governed by a culture of optimism and to accurately analyze the environment so as to make the most of any opportunities. Students in the module will identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) in relation to a companys operations and the external environment, will be able to provide solutions to corporate problems they will identify and to emphasize the complexity of company planning and control; they will appreciate the application of theories to specific cases of companies. Culture and expectations of interest groups. Strategic choices and their evaluation. Resource planning and allocation. Corporate structure. Change Management.


This program is mainly aimed at business executives or individuals who seek to enter the job market in administrative posts. For this reason, students submit a dissertation related to a specific company / organization or any other market sector, always taking into account Mediterranean Colleges guidelines.

Scholarship Programme for MC students GRANT SYSTEM

MC aiming at the development of its students rewards the best of them with a complete system of grants as follows:

  • 50% grant to the student with the best results in the first year of bachelor studies, since the average mark in the first year is at least 65%.
  • 50% grant to the student with the best results in the second year of achelor studies, since the average mark in the second year is at least 65%.
  • 35% grant to the student completing his/her bachelor studies with a 2.1 mark and continues with a postgraduate programme in the College.
  • 50% grant to each student completing his/her bachelor studies with a first class degree and continues with a postgraduate programme in the College.
  • 30% grant to 2 students on an HND programme completing their first year of studies with distinction, after proposal of the Board of Studies.


  • Grants are awarded to the students who succeed in the exam period of May-June and are valid for the fees of the next academic year.
  • Performance, conduct and regular attendance are factors contributing to someone being proposed for a grant to the Board of Studies.
  • Students are entitled to use their grant whenever they choose to register in the programme.
  • Students who have passed modules in other programmes are excluded from the grant system.

Greek Students

Within the framework of its Social Responsibility Programme, Mediterranean College, offers each year complete scholarships (up to 100% of tuition fees) to Institutions, Associations and Organisations.
The College applies a system of scholarships to all its prospective students. According to this, each candidate for undergraduate and postgraduate programs can receive a scholarship of between 400 and 2,000 euros. The criteria considered for awarding the scholarships are various: academic, professional, financial, social, athletic, etc.
The MC scholarship programme is available to all graduates of Universities/Colleges as well as to executives with experience. The application process is very simple and includes 3 stages:
