Overview
Our Civil Engineering - Innovative Structural Materials master’s degree from University of Bath is unique in the UK for the breadth of materials and sustainable construction methods it introduces you to. You’ll explore renewable and low-carbon engineering materials that are key to infrastructural development worldwide.
Focusing on sustainability, you'll learn how to use materials and design to enhance our built environment. You’ll develop an in-depth understanding of the behaviour of structural materials and their characteristics. When you graduate, you’ll have the skills to analyse and design engineering structures with innovative materials and non-conventional technologies.
Learn from experts in the field
Our course draws on the research knowledge in our Department of Architecture & Civil Engineering and BRE Centre for Innovative Construction Materials. Our academics’ international collaborations and research expertise feed into our teaching and contribute to your learning experience. Our research was ranked 1st in the UK in the Architecture and the Built Environment submission in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.
Use specialist facilities
We have a range of facilities to support your studies. Our laboratories and workshops contain machinery and equipment that meet industry standards.
