About

The Louisiana State University School of Music Orchestral Studies programme supports a wide array of orchestral activities including a full symphony, chamber orchestra, and opera orchestra.

Overview

About the programme

Additionally, the Orchestral Studies program of Louisiana State University hosts the recently renovated Lucile Blum Lending Library, which is a substantial collection of orchestral scores and parts. The Blum Collection provides academic and professional orchestras the opportunity to rent scores and instrument parts during the academic year.

Each year the LSU Symphony Orchestra holds a competition to select outstanding student soloists to be provided with an opportunity to perform with the orchestra on its annual concerto concert. First, second, and the third prize winners receive a cash award of $1000, $500, and $250, respectively, and all winners receive a certificate from the Director of the School of Music.
