The Cultural Studies program at Istanbul Sehir University aims to explore all aspects of traditional and contemporary cultures within a diversity of disciplines from humanities and social sciences by taking a multi-angle approach that is open to different perspectives.


The Cultural Studies program at Istanbul Sehir University brings the fields of literature, cinema and media studies to the forefront. 

The University also has a decisive and pioneering position in Turkey in subfields such as book studies, biography studies, Ottoman Literature, comparative literatures of the Middle East, and silent film in the Ottoman era and early Turkish Republic. The program has a particular emphasis on investigating culture with a comparative perspective from the Ottoman period to the present. 

At Cultural Studies from Istanbul Sehir University, theory and methodology are central. Theoretical perspectives and appropriate methodology are essential to allowing you to recognize what is happening in your environment, and to enabling you to research, analyze and make a meaningful conclusion.
