The Cultural Studies program at Istanbul Sehir University brings the fields of literature, cinema and media studies to the forefront.
The University also has a decisive and pioneering position in Turkey in subfields such as book studies, biography studies, Ottoman Literature, comparative literatures of the Middle East, and silent film in the Ottoman era and early Turkish Republic. The program has a particular emphasis on investigating culture with a comparative perspective from the Ottoman period to the present.
At Cultural Studies from Istanbul Sehir University, theory and methodology are central. Theoretical perspectives and appropriate methodology are essential to allowing you to recognize what is happening in your environment, and to enabling you to research, analyze and make a meaningful conclusion.
Over the course of the program, you will become competent in analytical thinking and systematic research and will advance in all areas of humanities and social sciences.

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
