The advanced master’s programme in IP & IT Law builds on the expertise of the KU Leuven Centre for IT & IP Law (CiTiP). The Master of Intellectual Property and ICT Law at KU Leuven addresses the increasing demand for qualified legal experts in the IP, ICT and media sectors. These are rapidly evolving and highly complex sectors, influenced by a myriad of technological, economic and sociological developments where existing legal frameworks are continuously challenged and traditional legal concepts and principles are regularly being reinterpreted.
All students - those concentrating on Intellectual Property Law and those concentrating on ICT Law - can follow the whole curriculum in English. Those who concentrate on the specialisation Intellectual Property Law can, but need not, follow a considerable part of the courses in Dutch and French. Courses in Dutch and French will be focussed on national law, while the courses in English are mainly focussing on European and international law.
Career opportunities
Graduates are well positioned for jobs in (international) law firms and companies in the IP, ICT and media sectors. Graduates have also gone on to positions in (international) public administration as well as in international public interest organisations. Students may also choose to further develop their academic skills by pursuing a PhD in an area related to fundamental issues of IP, ICT or media law.

General requirements
- Students with a diploma that was issued by an institution outside of the Flemish Community must always submit an application for admission to the "International Admissions and Mobility Unit" of the university.
- All applicants must submit as proof of sufficient knowledge of the English language, one of the following test scores: Toefl test (minimum 600 "paper based", minimum 250 "computer based" and minimum 100 "internet based"); I.E.L.T.S. with a minimum score of 7.0 or the Cambridge Advanced English level certificate.
- Students who obtained their secondary school diploma or academic degree in a country belonging to the Inner Circle (the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Australia, English speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand) are exempted from this requirement.
- Students with a diploma awarded by the Flemish, the French of the German Community of Belgium should not take language tests.
