Pure Mathematics program at Southwest Jiaotong University is the core and fundamental component of science of mathematics, which includes such sub-branch disciplines as mathematical logic, number theory, algebra, topology, theory of functions, functional analysis and differential equation, etc.
There comes obviously deeper interaction and penetration among these sub-branch disciplines along with the fast development of modern mathematics that arouse many brand new research areas and study emphases. Basic mathematics, not only the basis for other applied mathematical disciplines, but also serves as the necessary language, tool and methods for nature science, technical science and social science.
