The European Wind Energy programme of the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is a specially designed programme to challenge you at the world leading universities in wind energy research and education.


About the programme

The European Wind Energy programme of the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is an international MSc programme. The EWEM consortium involves 4 world leading universities in offshore wind energy research and education:

  • Technical University of Denmark – DTU
  • Delft University of Technology – TU Delft (coordinator)
  • Norwegian University of Science and Technology – NTNU
  • Carl von Ossietzky Universitat Oldenburg – UOL

The EWEM programme has a 2 year duration (120 ECTS) and gives you knowledge in the theoretical and applied sciences underlying wind energy systems. You can choose one of our 4 different tracks/specialisations:

  • Electric power systems (EPS)
  • Offshore Engineering (OE)
  • Rotor Design (RD)
  • Wind Farms and Atmospheric Physics (WF&AP)

Other requirements

General requirements

  • Candidates must have obtained a BSc diploma of substantial quality and level corresponding to at least 3 years studies at University, equivalent to 180 ECTS
  • The applicant’s qualifications must include a strong working knowledge of mathematics and experience in programming and applicants must document that they have fulfilled the following minimum requirements: Mathematics: 25-30 ECTS, Physics: 10-15 ECTS, Engineering design methodology: 5-15 ECTS
  • A working knowledge at bachelor level of at least four of the following five subjects is prerequisite for the central courses of the MSc program (if not explicit in the names mentioned on the transcripts, extra documentation is required!): Engineering design methodology, Statics, mechanical vibrations, and strength of materials, Fluid mechanics

Technological requirements

  • Programming experience (Matlab, Python, or similar) using numerical methods for solving applied mathematical problems (you’ll have to document it by mentioning courses in transcript and in CV under ‘Skills’).
