About Applied Social Psychology at SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities
Students are introduced to the principles of applied social psychology and throughout the course of their studies they become familiar with such topics as social neuroscience, dynamical social psychology, or industrial and organizational psychology. They learn how to conduct research, including applied research, and to design interventions in order to implement change within individuals and organizations, all with an emphasis on cross-cultural sensitivities. Selected courses are based on the latest research in the field of social-neurobiology. Students also learn how technology may be used to improve the quality of life of individuals.
The psychological practicum provides students with an opportunity to put the newly gained theoretical knowledge into practice by observing and assisting practitioners during job shadowing sessions.
The Work and Organizational Psychology modules of our program include components that comply with the European Certificate in Psychology (EuroPsy), the European standard of education, professional training and competence in psychology, set by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA).
Graduates of the Applied Social Psychology program can pursue three major paths in their professional careers, including researcher, consultancy, or policy advising. As researchers, working at universities and research institutes, they may study antecedents of problematic behavior and design intervention programs, or evaluate their effectiveness. As consultants and policy advisors, graduates may assist individuals, groups, organizations, or communities in resolving various problems. They may be involved in training and development, coaching, leadership and management, communication and public relations as well as teaching and coaching within those areas, both in professional and personal life.
