About

The master of International Development is a leading programme in the field of sustainable development and migration, taught in Cluj-Napoca, at the Faculty of Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences from Babes-Bolyai University.

Overview

The aim of the Master programme in International Development from Babes-Bolyai University is to train professionals in the field of international development and migration, following the SDGs Agenda. By the end of the two years, our graduates are able to offer consultancy and design policies on sustainable development and migration for various local, national and international bodies. The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) contributed to the creation of this program and we work actively with important civil society organizations in the field (ARCADIA, FOND). 

The programme is taught by an interdisciplinary team of professionals and academics from the fields of international development, migration, comparative politics, international relations and policy design. The courses have a practical approach, combining theory with hands-on exercises and activities. Moreover, the professorial team is organizing events for the students, inviting experts from the field to discuss about their experience and give students tips and tricks from the field. 

By the end of the programme, the students will be able to: 

  • Understand and operat with the main concepts in international development and migration; this understanding will reflect both theoretical insight and practical knowledge;
  • Understand the connection between various disciplines (migration, political science, education, economics, international relations)  this interdisciplinary approach can be your asset in securing a job in the field;
  • Acknowledge the main international governmental and non governmental organizations, their manadates and how they function;
  • Draft policies that align with the Sustainable Development Agenda and other donor agencies profiles;
  • Articulate messages and designing programmes that address migrants integration and migratory flows;
  • Engage into ...national authorities and ministerial bodies...

  • Receipt attesting the payment of the admission fee (it can also be payed at FSPAC during the admissions)
  • High school graduation diploma or its equivalent – a certified copy of the original document and a certified translation by a public notary (in Romanian, German, English or French, if the original is not issued in one of these languages). A precondition for application is the recognition of the study certificates (high school, BA) by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Scientific Research. 
  • Candidates who are applying for the English study line need to take an interview during the admission period.
