Overview
Science, Mathematics, Art and Technology Education from Ankara University was aimed to provide an opportunity for science, mathematics, and cognitive teacher to gain understanding and skills about STEM Education. In our country, short-term teacher training certificate programs are employed to reach these aims. There is not such a master program which the main focus is the STEM Education. Therefore, this program will allow teachers and teacher candidates to gain STEM Education skills. And also, teachers and teacher candidates are going to find opportunities to do research in the field of STEM Education.
Students at Science, Mathematics, Art and Technology Education from Ankara University will:
- be able to understand the theoretical backgrounds and the nature of STEM Education,
- develop an understanding on the process of interdisciplinary teaching and learning,
- produce and apply learning activities based on STEM Education,
- develop and apply formative assessment strategies in STEM Education,
- discover how to create STEM Education problems,
- find out the ways to encourage the students to code and create their own robots in the scope of blended learning, analyze the characteristics, strengths and weaknesses of existing STEM education programs, initiatives and policies at local and national levels,
Programme Structure
Courses include:
- Mathematics and STEM
- Important mathematical skills in Mathematics Curriculum in Primary and Secondary School
- STEM activities that support the development of mathematical thinking and quantitative reasoning.
- STEM activities that support the development of mathematical thinking and quantitative reasoning.
- Integrating science, technology, and engineering in meaningful ways as applications for mathematics in solving problems in relevant settings when developing programs and materials for mathematics

Other requirements
General requirements
- Candidates applying for the Master's Programs must have an undergraduate diploma, with at least 2.00 out of 4.00 CGPA undergraduate degree.
- Candidates, who intend to apply to Master’s Programs, must have a minimum score of 55 from ALES (National Graduate Education Science Exam) from relevant field or equivalent international exam scores.
- The candidates, who intend to apply to Master’s Programs, must have a minimum 50 score of YDS (National English Proficiency Exams) or equivalent scores from international examinations (e.g. TOEFL), the equivalency of which is recognized by the Council of Higher Education in Turkey.
- Candidates are evaluated over 100 points in the admission interview. In admission interview, candidates are evaluated with recommendation letter and oral assessment.e) In admitting students to graduate programs; 50% of ALES score, , 20% of undergraduate CGPA and 30% of admission interview
