
Overview
Classes meet once a week and are offered in the late afternoon and evenings to accommodate students' work and internship schedules. While classes are taught primarily in-person and on-campus, some classes may be offered fully online or through a hybrid format.
Mission Statement
The mission of the School Counseling program at University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Counselor Education is to provide all master’s level students with the latest methods, theories, and techniques of the discipline and to provide a field experience that will allow for a theory-to- practice developmental training approach. Indeed, we seek to enhance the requisite clinical skills needed to function as a professional counselor. In addition, and more broadly, we seek to train students to be critical thinkers, scientifically minded, culturally sensitive, promoters of social justice, and above all to be highly ethical and competent in their particular area of specialization.

General requirements
- The master degree program requires that an application for admission be submitted to the Graduate College and the Department of Department of Counselor Education, School Psychology & Human Services as well as transcripts of all college-level work.
- A minimum grade point average of 2.75 for all undergraduate work and a 3.00 for the last two years of undergraduate work is required.
- Applicants must provide three letters of recommendation and a writing sample (personal statement) with their application that is submitted online to the Graduate College.
