The CST Biological Sciences Department, which offers the Biology - Molecular and Cellular Biology program, is one of the largest within Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in terms of faculty and student population.


What you'll learn

The biology department from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University offers degree programs for three specialty tracks, Biology - Molecular and Cellular Biology, Physiology, and Ecology. The information contained in this curriculum guide has been especially prepared for students who wish to obtain a MS degree in any of the three tracks.

The program offers a Thesis based degree with emphasis on development of research and a Non-thesis based degree with an emphasis on coursework. All students admitted into the program must declare the thesis or non-thesis option tract by the end of their first semester. A declaration form can be obtained from and submitted to the Biology Graduate Coordinator.

  • A Graduate Application;
  • A Residency Classification form;
  • A $30.00 non-refundable application fee;
  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education and have earned a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or better in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate work taken while enrolled as an upper-division undergraduate student working towards a bachelor’s degree; 
  • One official transcript (in a sealed envelope) from each college or university attended;
  • Submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores or General Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores;
  • Three letters of Recommendation;
  • Résumé, essay, portfolio or other materials, if required by the program;
  • A completed Certification of Financial Responsibility form;
  • A completed Immunization form;
  • Mandatory Health Insurance required for all International Students.
