Overview
With a focus on the practical application of theory, this course seeks to develop the skills needed by the modern finance graduate, offering a grounding in financial theories coupled with developing the digital fluency needed to apply them to the rapidly changing finance sector. So, alongside developing and expanding your knowledge in key theories such as asset pricing or corporate governance, the course also focuses on financial technology, big data analytics, and the management of risk in digital environments.
During the FinTech course at Coventry University , you’ll have the opportunity to get hands-on training in programming using Python and/or R, big data analytics and data mining, as well as having access to Coventry Business School’s Trading Floor (subject to availability), which utilises market leading databases such as Thomson Reuters Eikon, Bloomberg and Fitch Connect.
You’ll also be taught by academics with industry experience, alongside those with research expertise in the world of finance, and have the opportunity to extend your course with professional experience.
Career
Through the development of core financial knowledge, alongside Fintech knowledge and capabilities, this course should prepare you to pursue a career in Fintech, or in finance more broadly, in sectors such as investment banking or financial services. You could find yourself working for a Fintech start-up, or within a large financial institution, applying Fintech techniques to improve processes, services and products.
In addition, due to the nature of finance and its relevance to all organisations, this course could help you to develop knowledge which you can then apply to other business careers, public sectors jobs or to pursuing your own aspirational ambitions.
