The General Health Psychology Master's Degree at University of Navarra qualifies and trains graduates in Psychology to practice the official and regulated profession of General Health Psychologist, with a rigorous scientific knowledge , and with a vision of comprehensive care for people.


What are you going to learn?

The General Health Psychology (PGS) at University of Navarra is responsible for conducting research, assessments and psychological interventions on those aspects of people's behaviour and activity that influence the promotion and improvement of their general state of health. Therefore, in the MPGS you will learn to:

  • To have an in-depth knowledge of the biological and psychosocial factors associated with health problems and illness, especially those related to mental health.

  • Learn different models of assessment and intervention in the field of PGS as well as the techniques and procedures derived from them to address behavioural disorders and psychological factors associated with health problems.

  • Formulate working hypotheses in research and collect and critically evaluate information to solve problems, applying the scientific method.

  • Writing psychological reports in an appropriate manner.

  • Knowing how to communicate and communicate with other professionals, and mastering the necessary skills for teamwork and in multidisciplinary groups.

  • Plan, carry out and, where appropriate, supervise the process of psychological assessment of human behaviour and psychological factors associated with health problems in order to establish their evaluation.

  • To carry out activities of promotion and education for individual and community psychological health.

  • Use information and communication technologies in professional performance.

  • Develop interpersonal communication and emotional management skills appropriate for effective interaction with patients, relatives and carers.

General requirements

  • It will be a requirement for admission to the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology:

  • Hold an official Spanish degree of graduate/graduate in Psychology or another declared equivalent issued by a higher education institution belonging to another member state of the European Higher Education Area.
  • Graduates from educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area may also be admitted without the need to have their degrees recognised, subject to verification by the University that their level of training is equivalent to the Spanish degree in Psychology.
  • However, this homologation will be necessary in order to practise the profession of General Health Psychologist. Consequently, these students who wish to practice in Spain are encouraged to begin the process in advance of their arrival as it is a long procedure .
