Overview

The Astronomy Sciences program from King Abdulaziz University was started in the second term of the academic year 1976 as part of the physics Department, then it was approved by the higher council of universities to be an independent department granting on masters degree in astrology / astrology and physic / mathematics.

Work fields for graduates

In the field of community services:

Publication of astronomical culture through general lecturers, forums, publication of articles in newspaper and magazines, conduction of course for students.
Follow-up of astrological events
Provision of scientific consultation to establish astronomical telescopes at schools and museums, times of important astronomical events for all organizations in the kingdom such as solar and lunar to determine training of eclipse prayer.
Determine prayer times and direction of qibla for all cities in the kingdom.

General requirements

Student must not be older than 30 years old.
Student must obtain a recognized qualification in his/her own country with a minimum grade (very good) in case their final degree classifications were awarded in an estimate.
Student must be of good conduct and medically fit.
Student must provide two recommendation letters from his/her previous faculty members
Student must not have been dismissed from one of the Saudi Institutions.
Candidates of Arabic Language and Literature, Islamic Law and Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Information Science programs must be professional in spoken and written Arabic language.
Student must be of good conduct and medically fit.
