Overview

The World Heritage and Cultural Projects for Development programme of Turin School of Development combines essential knowledge of cultural economics and cultural policies with the competences needed to design projects in the cultural field. It explores in detail the economic, social, institutional and legal considerations that govern the diverse UNESCO Conventions (World Heritage, Intangible Heritage, Diversity of Cultural Expressions) and programmes (Creative Cities, Man and Biosphere, Global Geoparks, Memories of the World). 

The Master focuses on developing economically sound projects designed around a wide spectrum of cultural activities in the fields of natural and cultural heritage, cultural and creative industries, and tourism. There is significant emphasis on strategic management competencies and project management skills for the promotion of cultural resources, and close attention is paid to cultural market analysis and the setting-up and management of cultural districts.

Who attends this course?

The Master is intended for: officials and/or professionals in the public and private sectors, UN agencies, foundations and NGOs; recent university graduates from developing and developed countries; professionals already involved in cultural projects or interested in designing and managing cultural development projects; people working or interested in World Heritage Sites and related research. The essential requirements for admission are a university degree (minimum three years) and fluency in English.
