Overview
Degree Program
On the merits, the courses of the Mediterranean Archaeology program of the Sapienza University of Rome - lasting two years - are aimed mainly at foreign students who will apply courses in English in archaeological subjects interested in the Mediterranean context. They will not offer, at the Master's Degree level, a cast in English of the existing Master's Degree program (LM-2 - Archeology). Instead, they will be divided into a series of diachronic themes, in a perspective of historical reading based on the reconstruction of the evolutionary processes of material culture and landscapes, in order to ensure an advanced knowledge of the most updated and innovative operational tools of the various archeologies. All this also in the perspective of knowledge and cultural communication of the Cultural Heritage of the various Mediterranean countries.
Students will be involved in field research and applied in scientific laboratories with the aim of facilitating the learning of methods and procedures to be used in the documentation, analysis and interpretation of finds, buildings and territories in multi-layered contexts of the ancient and post-ancient world. Furthermore, students will be offered the opportunity to acquire, also through practical experiences, advanced knowledge of: classification systems and analysis of documentary sources, computer applications of archaeological analysis, methods of integration and interpretation of complex historical and cultural contexts , operational perspectives of "archaeological assessment and evaluation.".
