The College of Medicine started the two-year Occupational Medicine program of the Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in collaboration with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with the objective of training Saudi's and nationals of the GCC and other related countries in the field of OHS.


The Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) countries, especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, are currently witnessing rapid industrial development, but in the absence of qualified occupational health and safety (OHS) professionals. This being said, these and similar countries are in need of qualified personnel in the field of OHS to ensure a working environment that is conducive to the health and well being of all.

Program System

The Occupational Medicine program of the Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University provides students with a combination of classroom based interactive teaching sessions, experience at the University Hospital, at the Department of Family Medicine and Community Service, clinical training and fieldwork followed by a written report.

This report will be assessed internally by the Department of Family and Community Medicine and will not require an external examiner.

General requirements

  • The applicant must be a Saudi or a citizen of one of the Gulf Cooperative Council countries or from a related country.
  • The applicant should complete the Post Graduate studies application form which can be downloaded from IAU ’s website.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical and sergeant from an institution recognized by the Ministry of Education GPA must not be less than Good.
  • A written commitment (self written or a letter from his/her sponsor) that states that the required fees for both within and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be paid.

Tuition Fee

  • SR 500 per credit
