As a society, we have entered an age of digitisation – the fourth industrial revolution, or Industry 4.0. This puts new demands on future engineers. With training central to the development of smart factories, including automation, industry robots and simulation technology, you will be keenly sought after.
There is an ongoing digitisation all around the world, and this has brought about an explosive growth in the use of robots and automation solutions. This development implicates not only industry but entire cultures.
What we are witnessing is the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0). We not only have smart robots, but units with sensors and inbuilt systems that are connected to networks (Internet of Things, IoT). These technologies, together with advanced simulation (digital twins) and artificial intelligence (AI), form the foundation for smart factories.
The courses that make up the programme offer you in-depth knowledge of smart factories and prepare you well for contributing to their development. You learn design and programming of robots and automation systems. The entire programme has been built through the collaboration of industry and researchers at University West.

Upon completing this Robotics and Automation programme from University West, you will be very sought after on the job market. Our graduates work for example with programming, simulation and deployment of industrial robot and automation systems or as project managers for design and development of new automation solutions.

You will be considered for admission to the Master in Robotics and Automation if you fulfil the following entry requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or industrial engineering and management. Additionally, the degree must be comprised of a minimum of 5 credits in programming and 15 credits in mathematics.
