The LL.M. in U.S., International, and Transnational Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology offers flexibility in the choice of law courses as well as the opportunity to conduct independent research.

Programme Structure

Participants in the LL.M. in U.S., International, and Transnational Law program must complete 24 credit hours of study, including:

  • One 3-credit course from the following: Comparative Law, International Business Transactions, International Intellectual Property, or other 3-credit course including a comparative law component approved by the program director
  • Introduction to the American Legal System
  • Fulfillment of the writing requirement, which can be completed by taking a seminar or Legal Writing IV for LL.M. students

General requirements

Foreign attorneys and law students are welcome to apply. The LL.M. Program in U.S., International, and Transnational Law is not open to attorneys holding a J.D. degree from an American law school.

  • Illinois Tech requires a four-year bachelor’s degree conferred with a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0/4.0 (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution for regular admission.

  • Academic requirements: GPA of at least 3.0.
  • GMAT or GRE is required: GRE/GMAT is required, apart from Master of Public Administration. 
  • Personal Statement required
  • Letter of Recommendation is suggested, but not required
  • ACT Composite: 27+ (Must have 27+ in Math)
  • SAT Composite: 1240+ (Must have 630+ in Math)
