Overview
The Master of Translation Studies program from University of Newcastle provides students with advanced knowledge and skills in the practice of translation informed by current theory, while also including a unique focus on the application of machine translation and digital resources.
Throughout the degree, you will explore the foundations of language, how culturally situated concepts, values, traditions, and communicative practices are expressed in and through languages and linguistic structures, the theory and practice of translation, and the evaluation of machine translation. As a part of this degree, you will also undertake a translation project under the supervision of a specialist staff member, giving you first-hand experience in translation within your degree.

- All applicants are required to have proficiency in English and another language.
- Each applicant is required to submit a short statement that describes her/his/their academic background, motivation for applying to the programme, and future career goals (maximum 400 words). This personal statement must be written in both English and another language of the applicant’s choice.
- Bachelor degree in a relevant field with at least 1 year of relevant work experience OR
- Bachelor degree with a major in a relevant field with at least 1 year of relevant work experience OR
- A 4-year Bachelor degree in a relevant field OR
