Areas of Training
Students will be trained to the level of proficiency in management of patients in need of treatment for a variety of periodontal diseases and mucogingival defects, treatment for Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMDs), as well as dental implant therapy and conscious sedation.
The Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University is home to an array of research programs, ranging from basic research on materials, tissue regeneration and oral pathogens to improving the oral health of vulnerable populations. It also offers the Periodontics programme degree.
Upon graduation, residents will meet requirements for certification and licensure as dental specialists in Periodontics in Canada and the United States, and be qualified for academic educational positions in Faculties of Dentistry in North America. They will be eligible to sit Fellowship exams for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and the American Board of Periodontology Diplomate.

- Completion of a minimum of a four-year DDS (or equivalent) from a university-based dental institution with a minimum overall average equivalent of A- (85%).
- A certified (by a lawyer or notary public) copy of your diploma must be provided plus an original letter from the dean of the university certifying your graduation and the date of graduation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and write in English.
