Program Overview
It has a reasonable subject echelon which is composed of such departments as the Pharmacognostics Teaching and Research Section of Chinese Materia Medica Institute, Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute and Shanghai R&D Center for Standardization of Traditional Chinese Medicines. The Pharmacognostics program is offered at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Over the years, the subject has undertaken different levels of scientific research projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, etc., won a number of state-, municipal- and ministerial-level science and technology progress awards, and published more than one hundred academic essays home and abroad. It creates good conditions for the training of Master degree candidates.

- Healthy foreign nationals. Applicants emigrating from mainland China, Hongkong, Macao or Taiwan must hold a valid foreign citizenship for no less than 4 years and a record of residency in the country for no less than 2 years in the most recent 4 years.

- Under 45 years of age; exceptions can be considered for applicants with competitive academic background or those recommended by collaborative universities.
