Overview

International Studies Research from Pompeu Fabra University intends to prepare policy analysts and researchers in different areas of international studies, providing them with advanced methods training and research skills that would enable them to develop or consolidate their professional and academic careers. This Master’s offers excellent preparation to successfully pursue a PhD programme in International Relations, Development studies, Public Policy or Political Science.

Key facts:

During the first year of the programme, the Research Master’s in International Studies combines theory and practice, providing students with extensive knowledge of the different fields of international studies, including academic and professional perspectives. In addition to core courses, over 50 electives in international studies are taught every year by leading academics and an array of distinguished international scholars.

In the second year of the programme, students are trained in advanced research methods, including innovative analytical techniques and sophisticated software tools. The sum of the two-year study will be applied towards a 30-ECTS credit Master’s Final Research Project (Thesis), to be written during the last semester of the Master’s.

Applicants are required to have a good undergraduate degree or its international equivalent, of at least six semesters, in the field of social sciences (political sciences, international relations, economics or equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher education either in Spain or abroad. If you are applying with a degree from the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), a minimum of 180 ECTS is required.
