About

In collaboration with Al-Maktoum College, in the MSc Islamic Banking, Finance, and International Business from University of Dundee you will learn about the Islamic banking sector, Islamic finance, and international business

Overview

This MSc Islamic Banking, Finance, and International Business from University of Dundee is taught in collaboration with our colleagues at Dundee's Al-Maktoum College. We have a strong history and expertise of teaching traditional finance and economics and we will draw upon the expertise in Islamic finance and wider Islamic studies on offer at Al-Maktoum. Few degrees of this kind exist in the UK.

You will develop your understanding of the application of Islamic commercial law in relation to Islamic financial institutions and financial products, as well as the emergence and working mechanisms of Islamic capital markets.

Topics you will cover include the operations of Islamic banks and Islamic financial markets, alongside the nature of risk and its management in Islamic financial institutions

You will explore contemporary issues and debates in Islamic finance and gain an understanding of the internationalisation strategies and strategic decisions in business.

Throughout the course, you'll also develop your broader skills in wider international business.

Global internships

As part of this course you have the opportunity to undertake an eight-week internship matched to your chosen industry in China, Mexico, Vietnam, or Manchester (UK).

Careers

This course will give you the skills and understanding to work in a variety of conventional and Islamic businesses, such as banks, insurance companies, financial service companies, and trading brokers.

You may also want to apply for roles in the finance arms of industries and commercial firms outside of the finance sector.

Islamic finance and banking is a growing area of business across the globe, and not solely linked to Muslim countries. Many Western banks and financial services are offering Islamic banking and finance products to customers.
