Overview
Changes in both technological opportunities and changes in needs of users resulted in spatial variations and different building types. Along with this development different areas of specialization have emerged.
In this context basic area of focus of Building Research and Planning Program from Yildiz Technical University, is especially questioning planning, programming, design, building and management of complex building types and helping in defining criteria for these phases.
On the other hand a concept that this century that we are witnessing brings forth is taking into account built environment in terms of sustainability. Program gives specialization in building types and sustainability.
Every term, the building types that will be taught are defined by taking students’ opinion. The student takes courses on defined building type, in courses connects with specialists, makes design and research.

General requirements
- To study in the graduate programs, the students are required to take an exam called “ALES” (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Exam), which is also administered by ÖSYM, and submit this score with their application. GRE or GMAT can also be a substitute of ALES. The applicants have to meet additional program requirements defined by the universities.
- In Turkey, the universities have the right to define the admission criteria themselves and these admission criteria have to be approved by Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK).
