Overview
To achieve this, the Artificial Intelligence for Banking and Finance course at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is organised around three main areas of knowledge:
- Technical-scientific area: This focuses on building skills in computer science and learning tools for analysing data with statistics.
- Corporate-management area: This part helps students develop analytical skills that are useful in a business setting.
- Financial-economics area: This area teaches students to conduct specialised analysis relevant to the banking and finance sectors.
Career
The study programme equips students for two primary career paths:
- Business Analyst
Business Analysts play a critical role in gathering, processing, and presenting data to guide a company’s strategic decisions. They may work independently or collaborate with departments like finance, marketing, and sales to support organisational objectives. Graduates acquire skills in data management, communication, and strategic analysis, enabling them to identify key data areas aligned with company goals, manage databases, design research experiments, and interact across functions. Business Analysts often find roles in consulting, where they provide data-driven insights to departments or serve as financial auditors for large organisations.
- Financial Data Scientist
Financial Data Scientists provide essential analytical support for decision-making in banking and finance, covering areas such as investment choices, capital allocation, and credit risk. Graduates are equipped with technical expertise in data retrieval and analysis, along with planning and organisational skills, allowing them to handle complex data tasks across banking, corporate finance, and government sectors. This role is particularly attractive to investment firms, FinTech companies, banks, and asset management organisations. Financial Data Scientists may also work independently as quantitative analysts or freelance consultants.
