Overview
Molecular biology and genomics have transformed this topic and underlined the fundamental importance of microorganisms in most aspects of biology, from ecology to medicine. The Molecular Biology, Microbiology programme from Lund University spans from the use of microbial model organisms to understand function and evolution of cellular processes to the enormous importance of microbes in biotechnology, the food and pharmaceutical industries, hygiene, environmental biotechnology, etc. Much of this potential is still unexplored and the programme provides tools and knowledge for a career in this exciting area.
Career prospects
The programme could form a point of entry into further postgraduate research in the field, or prepare you for a career in industry or the public sector. For microbiologists there is a broad employment market, for example in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and food industries, as well as within various national and international authorities and organisations.Get more details
